I found a pattern that I think I can work with. I have chosen a pattern after going online and Googling “Southwest themed quilts”. Okay, he’s excited about the style and colors. Before I go any further, I need to talk to my brother, Chuck. It will be a little less than a twin bed size.
What function will it serve? I was thinking, it would be nice to make a quilt for their new sofa in the family room. I chose a memory quilt with a Southwest quilt theme. So, what kind of theme should this quilt have? Something that appeals to my brother and his family. Today, I was gathering photos and decided to blog about it. Right now, it fills me with anticipation, that I’m going to learn new skills and make something unique. I want it to bring happiness to their stressful lives…well, who knows what they will think of it. I want it to be something that the family keeps and occasionally turns over in their hands and remembers the events, the times, the faces of the past. Spread the color out! I started with light color blocks at the top and worked my way down to dark color blocks at the bottom.I’m aware that putting pictures on fabric is common practice these days, but this is my first time creating a quilt with photographs to sew on to the pattern. Make sure you don’t have two of the same colors together. Layout your 5×5 fabric squares and your Photo Quilt Blocks as shown below.
The interfacing is already applied to your block so you are ready to cut and sew them when they arrive! Step 6: Follow the Photo Example Below and Lay Out Your Quilt They will come with 1/4 inch seam allowances added to this but, we will be cutting those off. When your Photo Quilt Blocks arrive (they usually ship within 3 business days), cut them to be 5×5 inches in size. Step 5: Cut your Photo Quilt Blocks into 5″ Squares.
